Hurricane Ike hits Louisville!
Of course the news is delayed...
Sunday, Sept 14 - the remnants of Hurricane Ike roared through the Kentuckiana area with winds averaging 45 mph with gusts over 90 mph. All that wind and not a drop of rain.
Neighbors were standing outside in the street watching huge patches of shingles and siding being ripped off of their houses. Trees split or fell doing even more damage. Power was cut off to over 300,000+ customers in the area and many remained that way for well over a week!
Our house only had a handful of shingles flipped up and a fence bent by a neighbor's tree. We lost power around 1:30pm and got it back at 12:45am Monday morning. All in all it was pretty cool from my point of view. But I'm crazy like that.
